Helping you to find peace with who you are

ALJ Hypnotherapy

Welcome to ALJ Hypnotherapy.

The initials ALJ actually refer to my maiden name, Anita L Jones. I've been happily married for more than 25 years but I still remember my previous name with great fondness, so I revived it for my therapy practice.

I've spent many years working to improve the quality of my inner life and mental resilence -  culminating in my training as a hypnotherapist - and I'm fascinated by all the many ways we can do that.

If you'd like to take further steps towards enhancing your life experience too, I would love to hear more about where you are and where you'd like to be.

About Me

I'm Anita Cullum and I'm a Cognitive Hypnotherapist based in the Cambridge area.

I’m fully qualified and insured and registered with the National Council of Hypnotherapy (NCH).

Previously, among other things, I taught Yoga for nearly 10 years and I still enjoy practicing regularly. I also studied languages and this, combined with my interest in mind-body-spirit practices and ideas, evolved naturally into an interest in hypnotherapy with its clever use of language to frame suggestions and its aim of improving mental wellbeing.

About Cognitive Hypnotherapy

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a solution-focused approach. We work with the client to zone in on a problem and find our why it's happening, how and when. We then use personalised techniques and hypnotic suggestions to help to resolve the issue and take them from their problem to their solution state.

It is intended to be a short-term therapy, ranging from one to four sessions to work through a particular issue. But it can often last for longer periods if a client chooses to extend it, if their issues are more complicated, for example, or they have more than one area they'd like to work on.

As a former yoga teacher, I can also bring in gentle yoga techniques, which can help to relieve tension, energise, and restore calm.

Areas Cognitive Hypnotherapy can help with include:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Self-esteem

  • Confidence

  • Phobias

  • Eating disorders
